The Sacrament of Confession (also known as Reconciliation or Penance) is instituted by God to share His mercy through the Church. We come to ask pardon for our sins, to receive absolution and to make a new start in our lives, hoping to grow in virtue by allowing the grace of the Holy Spirit to work within us.

In the Parish of Larne, the Sacrament of Confession is available at the following times:

Wednesday 7.00 – 7.15pm, St MacNissi’s Church (before the Novena mass)

Saturday 12.00 – 12.30pm, St MacNissi’s Church

Saturday 5.00 – 5.15pm, St Anthony’s Church

Confessions can also be heard on request.

When coming to the Sacrament, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. Whether it has been a week, a month, a year or decades since your last Confession, God is there and ready for you, and His mercy is limitless. Our priests are always happy to help you through the sacrament. They are there to represent Christ in imparting God’s forgiveness and to offer spiritual support, but not to judge anyone.

For your preparation, you may wish to download this printable guide to Confession that you can bring with you, which includes common questions about the sacrament, an examination of conscience and all the words of the prayers involved. These guides are also available in each of our two churches.
