At the conclusion of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells his followers: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Mt. 28:19). Baptism is the first sacrament. Through it, we become children of God with the promise of eternal life, and are offered a share in the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

The Sacrament of Baptism takes place twice a month in the parish: on the 2nd Sunday of the month in St MacNissi’s Church at 11.30am, and on the 4th Sunday of the month in St Anthony’s Church at 11.30am.

Before registering for Baptism, the parent and Godparents are invited to attend the pre-baptism course, which is held on the first Monday of every month in St Anthony’s Hall, 7.30-8pm. Registration for the date of Baptism takes place during this meeting, as well as discussion on what happens in the sacrament. Please bring the long version of the baptismal certificate with you. The course is run by Noel Wilson, Bernie Regan, Rosaleen Westland and Gerry Campbell.
